At intervals throughout my working life I have drawn my friends, and have also been commissioned by clients wishing for something more informal or more immediate than a traditional oil painting.

I have exhibited several times with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and my portrait of folk singer Bob Davenport won the Rexel award at the Royal Institute.

I do not work from photographs. I need to spend enough time with the subject to be able to react and to observe, although I would expect to achieve the likeness within a couple of sittings or so.
