Edmund Blood died suddenly on October 3rd 2002. He was enjoying the success he had worked hard for, and for now this site will remain as it was. I plan to update it in time to stand as a retrospective of his work. Meanwhile, any enquiries via the e-mail address will be forwarded to me. The rest of this site is in Edmund's own words.

Mary Blood, October 2003

"For the past twenty five years I have worked from my studio in the former mining village of Great Clifton, just off the A66 between Cockermouth and Workington; the particular ambience of this half-rural, half industrial stretch of country between the Lakeland Fells and the Solway Firth is a theme which recurs in my paintings and drawings.

I work in a number of areas and disciplines, roughly divided into the categories above, and each has its own page with a sample "gallery"; some work is carried out for and with my wife Mary, a freelance Graphic Designer. Sizes, where given, are of the image, not the frame. Visitors are welcome to the studio – providing I have notice, so that I can clear a way through the chaos. The studio forms part of the house, a Grade II listed Georgian building in the Cumbrian vernacular style that still retains most of its original features and has a good many (relatively) new ones. Visitors, if they wish, are also welcome to look round the garden during the summer months.

Please phone in advance to arrange a visit.
